I had a great time reading through Mari Jungstedt’s The Inner Circle (in French, Le cercle intérieur) last Sunday. Yes, at 377 pages, it is readable in one day. It a good crime story, featuring police chief Anders Knutas of the island of Gotland in Sweden. The book also does a good job presenting this region of Sweden. It portrays fairly conservative values when it comes to the role of the family, relationships, and the ethics of professor-student relations. There are interesting descriptions of archeologists at work and information about the Viking past of the island.
